Information for visitors
The Ecological research station offers accommodation for courses and guest scientist affiliated to the University of Cologne or other research institutes.
If you plan to stay at the Ecological Research Station, please fill the registration form and send it to the managing director Kristin Scharnweber (kristin.scharnweber
uni-koeln.de).
All visitors need to accept the house rules and the fire safety regulations.
The nearest train station in Rees-Millingen is 3.3 km away. There is a bus connection to Rees-Bienen from Praest train station (bus 88 towards Rees train station).
The field station offers space for courses with up to 20 persons (18 students and 2 teachers) with 4-bed and 2-bed rooms, all equipped with an own bathroom. The station has two accessible rooms and a lift to access the upper floor.
The house is self-catering. There is no grocery shop in the village of Bienen, but you can find large supermarkets in the city of Rees in 5 km distance.
We provide bedding, including pillows, blankets and linen. Please bring your own towels and soap. Field shoes need to be taken off inside the house. Thus, we recommend to wear slippers indoors.
